DIY Tea Cup Candles | indiasroses.com

If you follow my blog regularly you will now have noticed that this week has been very project oriented and every post has been some sort of DIY. I’ve been feeling very inspired in our new home and I’m just having a lot of fun creating and embracing the new space and really making it feel like our own.

A little while back I made teacup candles which are an inexpensive and fairly easy item to create. I picked up the tea cups I used at the local thrift store for .10 cents a piece and you can buy wax from the craft store or melt down candles from the dollar store or if you save old candles you can melt them down and make something new. How To Make Beautiful Orange-Clove Pomanders That Will Have Your Whole House Smelling Like Autumn | indiasroses.com

With the Autumnal Equinox right behind us and the promise of cool crisp days full of showers and the ever changing rainbow of Autumn leaves in our future it was most certainly time to embrace the season and bring a bit of Fall festivity into our home. As a child growing up off the grid we often spend time doing hand crafts and I think my Mom always took advantage of anything that would sit us down at the table and keep us occupied for a long while. I remember making clove oranges every holiday season my entire life. I’d sit down at the table with my brother and sister and we’d spend an afternoon covering every inch of orange with whole cloves. It smelled amazing and by the end of the afternoon we were sticky with citrus juice and rich with the smell of spice. (more…)

This is a simple spider web I made using the “paper snow flake” theory with a little bit of a twist. All you need is;

Scissors

Paper

Penicil

Pen

Tape

Eraser (optional)

Start with your piece of paper on a hard surface.

Fold the bottom side (Side A) to the right side (Side B) creasing the paper at the bottom right corner (creating Fold C)

Fold, the left edge (Fold C) to the right side (Sides A and B) creasing the paper at the bottom right corner (creating Fold D).

Fold the left edge (Fold D) to the right side (Sides A, B and Fold C) creasing the paper at the bottom right corner so that Side A, Side B, Fold C, and Fold D all line up on top of each other.

Hold your folded paper up to the light and look for the silhouetted line of the edge farthest from the top.

Cut along the line you just found, and save the paper scrap for later.

Draw a curved line from the High point at the top of your paper to the Low Point about 3/4 of an inch from your Cut Line.

Cut along the line you just drew.

Draw a rough Guide Line along the right side of your paper about an 1/8 of an inch from the edge, Then draw curved lines about a 1/4 inch apart starting at the left side of your paper and ending at your Guide Line, and following the original curve of your Cut Line.

Cut along the curves you just drew, but do not cut on Guide Line.

Cut along all curve lines creating 1/4 inch paper flaps.

Cut out every other paper flap starting with the second from the top.

Unfold your Spider Web and Carefully smooth the folds.

On the Paper Scrap you saved draw a little Spider.

Cut around your little Spider, and tape him to your web.

Now you’re ready to hang it up!

Thank you so much for reading my Tutorial! I hope you enjoyed it!

Happy Halloween!
